• Protecting Endangered Species Habitat

A large-scale HCP is a landscape conservation strategy for a biologically defined planning area.  This allows assembly of large habitat reserves, designed to meet specific species requirements including the protection of wildlife corridors connecting HCP reserves to other protected lands.  In the absence of a large-scale HCP, habitat protection often occurs in a piece-meal fashion, resulting in small isolated preserves that degrade over time.  Additionally, large-scale HCP’s provides unified, monitoring and adaptive management for the preserve system.
